Kilkerran 8 Year Old is a cask-strength single malt from Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown, in a 70cl bottle at 55.6% ABV. This is the 2025 release, matured fully in ex-bourbon casks.
The name Kilkerran comes from the Gaelic name of the original settlement where Saint Kieran had his cell, on the ground where Campbeltown now stands.
The nose is floral, with elderflower and heather, then vanilla, custard creams and foam bananas. On the palate come cocoa nibs, Iberico ham and earthy peat smoke, with hints of pineapple and coconut. Peat smoke lingers in the finish alongside a digestive biscuit note.
