Kingsbarns Balcomie is a single malt from the family-owned Kingsbarns distillery in the Kingdom of Fife, made with Fife barley in a 70cl bottle.
It matured entirely in ex-Oloroso American oak sherry butts from Jerez. Isabella Wemyss chose the casks for their gentle oak flavour and sherry sweetness, to sit alongside the fruity character of the spirit.
The nose is treacle, sultanas and fruit loaf with cinnamon icing, with a touch of dark chocolate and summer berries. Tinned pineapple, orange peel and cake spice lead the palate, and the finish brings dried apricot and roasted hazelnut.
