Kirin Fuji Single Blended Masterpiece 2022 (70cl, 50%)

This is a single blended Japanese whisky from the Fuji Gotemba distillery at the foot of Mt. Fuji, in a 70cl bottle at 50% ABV. The master blender is Jota Tanaka, formerly of Four Roses. It was produced using four different stills and combines malt and grain whisky made at the distillery. The blend includes whiskies up to 30 years old, with an average age of over 15 years, plus a small amount of peated whisky. Some of the whisky was aged in ex-bourbon barrels from Four Roses. The nose is heady with caramel, dark cherry, poached pears, honey and chocolate. Sherry and stewed stone fruits lead the palate, and crisp rye spice lingers on the finish.
