Knappogue Castle – 12 Year Old French Oak

This is a 12 year old Irish whiskey from Knappogue Castle, finished in a Château Pichon Baron French oak cask. The finish in French oak gives the whiskey its particular character, and the tasting notes describe a gentle, fruit-led profile. The nose offers subtle strawberry, vanilla, fruit and soft spice. On the palate there is complex malt and sweet berry fruit alongside some red apple, with vanilla and soft mocha. The finish is medium, with a slightly lingering spiciness.
