This is a 12 year old Speyside single malt, an original bottling from the Knockando distillery, matured in bourbon casks. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
Knockando was founded on the Spey by Ian Thomson in 1898, and each of its bottlings is made from whisky of a single vintage. The character here is fruity and gently nutty, with almond alongside, and it dries steadily towards the end.
The nose is led by delicate fruit with a subtle nutty note. On the palate, soft fruit meets a light almond touch. The finish brings toffee and cream before turning drier.
