Kurayoshi Pure Malt is a blended malt from Matsui Shuzo of Tottori Prefecture, Japan, in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV. It combines whiskies sourced from Scottish distilleries with Japanese whisky and volcanic-stone-filtered water. It is aged for more than three years in bourbon white oak barrels and is non-chill-filtered.
The nose is sweet oak and honey with a hint of earthy peat. On the palate, sherried malt with raisin and cinnamon comes first, followed by toasted nuts and vanilla pod. The finish has touches of fresh fruit sharpness and floral barley.
