Lagavulin 11 Year Old Sweet Peat is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 43% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is aged only in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels, with no sherry wood.
That choice gives a softer, sweeter take on the distillery's peat smoke, with caramel, vanilla and brown sugar alongside it.
The nose is sweet peat smoke with sea shells, cigar box and dried strawberry. The palate is mellow and syrupy, with strawberry jam, dark chocolate, sugared coffee and vanilla cream. The finish is medium, with spice and peat smoke, toasted oak and a faint coastal salinity.
