This is the Lagavulin 14 Year Old made for the 2024 Islay Jazz Festival, an edition the distillery releases each year to mark the event. It is a single malt from Islay, matured in carefully selected casks.
The 2024 edition pairs Lagavulin's peat smoke and salty tones with a creamy softness. Warm wood, dried fruit and spice are layered through the smoke, and a sweet note runs alongside it.
On the nose there is peat smoke, sea air, orange peel and roasted malt, with vanilla, toffee and raisin behind. The palate is full and oily with dark honey and a maritime freshness. The finish is long, warm and lightly peppery.
