This is Lagavulin 16 Year Old, an official distillery bottling at 43% ABV from around 2009. It is a single malt with a gold colour.
The nose is tarry and smoky, with shoe polish, peat, smoked tea, fresh walnuts and cured ham, plus hints of camphor and eucalyptus.
On the palate the fruit is up front and the peat soft and leafy. There are notes of gravadlax with dill, coal hearths, kelp, iodine, lemon skins and smoked fish. The finish is long, with tobacco, peat smoke, tar and hessian.
