This is a Lagavulin 16 year old single malt, an official bottling from the late 1980s by White Horse Distillers, in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV. It is one of the earliest batches of the 16 year old and was made for the UK market. The colour is gold, a little lighter than others of its period. Peat and fruit sit in even balance on the nose, which leans towards an older, fruitier style of Islay whisky. On the nose there are banana, pineapple and a little mango, with iodine, hessian, tar liqueur and brine. The palate brings peat, oils, fruit liqueurs, oysters and lemon peel, and the finish runs from coastal to sweet.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
