Lagavulin 25 Year Old is an Islay single malt distilled in 1977 and bottled in 2002 at a cask strength of 57.2%, released as part of Diageo's Special Releases. It spent 25 years in oak casks. The malted barley is high in phenols, which gives the whisky its peaty character, and the pot stills at Lagavulin are pear-shaped. The water comes from the Solan Lochs near the distillery. The nose is maritime peat smoke with leather, dried fruits, dark chocolate and a touch of medicinal iodine. The palate is full-bodied, with figs, raisins, salted caramel, dark toffee, espresso, black pepper and cinnamon. The finish is very long, with peat, sea salt, dried dark fruit, oak spice and liquorice.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
