An 8-year-old Islay single malt from Lagavulin, introduced in 2016 to mark the distillery's 200th anniversary. It began as a one-off anniversary release and was later added to the permanent range. The idea came from a 19th-century visit to the distillery, when an eight-year-old whisky of exceptional quality was described.
The nose is direct and smoky, with young peat, lemon, green apple, seaweed, iodine, white pepper and light vanilla. The palate is firm, with strong peat smoke, a dry ashy note, fresh citrus, spice and a little malt. The finish is long, dry and smoky, with citrus, pepper and a salty freshness.
