This Lagavulin 8 Year Old is a limited edition released for the 200th anniversary of the distillery, which dates its history from 1816 to 2016. It is bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
It is an homage to the style of the 19th century, when 8-year-old Islay whiskies were the norm.
The nose is peat smoke, lemon zest, light salt and mineral notes. The palate is smoky and tight, with a peppery attack, fresh citrus, dry peat and a clear maritime character. The finish is long, smoky and warm.
