This is a Lagavulin Distillers Edition single malt distilled in 1984 and bottled in 2001. It is double matured.
The nose is strongly smoky, balanced by sweetness, with hints of fig and vanilla bean. On the palate there is maritime smoke, salted caramel and sherry notes, along with earthy peat and a touch of sweetness. The finish is long and lingering, with oak spice and peat.
