Lagavulin Distillers Edition 2021 is an Islay single malt that is matured twice. It is first aged in American and European oak casks, then finished in re-charred American oak casks that were seasoned with Pedro Ximénez sherry and fitted with heavily charred new heads. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose brings intense peat and vanilla, with a raisiny sweetness balancing the smoke and a crisp, toasty malt. On the palate it is sweet and rich, with clear malt and smoke filling the mouth. The finish is very long, with fruit, peat and lingering oak.
