Lagavulin Distillers Edition is an Islay single malt from the distillery founded in 1816. After a classic maturation, it is given a second finish in casks that previously held Pedro Ximénez sherry.
The finish adds a darker, sweeter layer to Lagavulin's peat smoke.
The nose combines smoke and peat with raisins, figs, plums and a little chocolate, alongside seaweed and salt. On the palate, smoke comes first, followed by caramel, honey and dark chocolate, with leather, tobacco and a hint of coffee beneath. The texture is oily, and the finish is very long, with smoke, sweet sherry notes and sea salt.
