Lagavulin – Double Matured 1995 Bottled in 2011 Limited Edition

This is a limited edition Lagavulin Double Matured, an Islay single malt distilled in 1995 and bottled in 2011 at 16 years old. Its colour is amber. The nose opens with sausages, dried mushrooms and butter, then moves to coastal notes of seaweed and winkles, followed by soot and smoked sausages. The palate starts earthy and rooty, with cured ham, before smoke, peat and orange appear alongside grassy, tarry and slightly salty notes. The finish is closer to the classic Lagavulin style, with salt, brine, peat, oranges and liquorice.
