Old Wolf is a Swiss single malt from Langatun in the canton of Bern, and the distillery's second peated single malt. It is bottled at 46% in a 50cl bottle.
It is a marriage of different casks from the warehouse. Sherry casks give the juicy, fruity side and a classic sweetness, while the smoke comes from a spirit made with peated malt and matured in spicy oak casks that previously held red wine. The whisky has a reddish-brown colour.
The nose offers caramel, roasted almonds, ripe peach, forest honey and cherry compote, with sweet smoke in the background. The palate is intense and spicy, with dried fruit, dark chocolate, cloves and peat smoke. The finish is dry and woody, with light smoke.
