This is a 10 year old Islay single malt from Laphroaig, bottled at cask strength as Batch 15. The whisky was matured in ex-bourbon barrels made from American white oak. The nose is powerful and medicinal, with rich smoke, seaweed and a gentle barley sweetness. On the palate the Islay peat is just as strong, bringing cold campfire ash, freshly smoked bacon and sea notes over a light sweetness. The finish is spicy and long.
