Laphroaig – 10 Year Old Original Cask Strength Red Stripe (6cl, 55.7%)

This is Laphroaig 10 Year Old Original Cask Strength in its red stripe livery, bottled at 55.7% ABV. It is the version that followed the green stripe and came before the numbered batches, and it was sold as bottled at the natural strength of the distillery. The notes lean coastal and medicinal. The nose brings mercurochrome, bandages, fresh kelp, clams and tarry smoke, with brine, seawater and a little lemon. On the palate there is salty peat, ashes and eucalyptus cough syrup, with a touch of lemon marmalade once water is added. The finish is very long, with peat, seawater and a little pepper.
