This is a 10-year-old Laphroaig from the 1990s, bottled before the distillery's Royal Warrant, at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle. The colour is deep gold.
The nose opens with pineapple, guava, passion fruit and mango, mixed with tar liqueur and brine, then herbal liqueurs, pomegranate molasses, grassy olive oil, mineral oil, cough medicine and soft soot. The palate runs tropical fruit salad through soot, lemon-infused olive oil, dried herbs, wet beach pebbles and seawater, with hints of the farmyard. The finish brings lemon jelly, mineral salts, kipper smoke, smoky bacon, passion fruit cordial and sheep wool.
