This is a 10 year old Islay single malt from Laphroaig, in a 70cl bottle at 48% ABV. It starts as the regular Laphroaig 10 Year Old, drawing its character from ex-Bourbon barrels.
The spirit then rests in casks that previously held sweet Oloroso sherry.
The nose is medicinal, with peat smoke, Manuka honey, strong cloves, leather, iodine and smoky bacon. The palate is sweet and aromatic with waxy richness, then toffee, maple syrup, dark chocolate, pine needle and cedar. The finish carries lingering sweetness, smouldering peat smoke, nuttiness and a hint of brine.
