This is the official Laphroaig 10 year old finished in sherry oak, bottled at 48% ABV. It has a coppery amber colour.
The nose pairs oily phenolics, natural tar and syrupy, sweet peat smoke with black pepper, game meats, umami seasoning, camphor and iodine. On the palate there is a little spicy oak, then cigars, barbecue smoke, wood embers and charred, spiced meat, with a firm, peppery peat. The finish is of good length, dry and earthy, with black pepper, more smoked meats, tar and chunky phenolics.
