Laphroaig 10 Year is a peated Islay single malt Scotch whisky, matured for a minimum of ten years in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 43% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The distillery still runs its own floor maltings, and the barley is smoked in a peat kiln dating back to 1840, using peat from the Glenmachrie bogs.
The nose is thick peat smoke, medicinal iodine and damp seaweed, with taffy and peanut butter fudge behind. The palate has peat smoke, sea salt and malted barley sweetness, with vanilla and dark chocolate. The finish is long and warming, with sea spray, roasted coffee and lingering smoky peat.
