Laphroaig – 1988-2018 30 Year Old The Syndicate's Single Cask 9201 (70cl, 48.1%)

This is a single cask Laphroaig, distilled in 1988 and bottled in 2018 at 30 years old. The Syndicate released it at cask strength, 48.1%, in a 70cl bottle. Cask 9201 gave an edition of 139 bottles. After three decades in the cask, the raw intensity of Laphroaig's smoke has softened, and the peat now shows as a gentler sootiness. That leaves room for other flavours. It is described as having tinned fruit syrup, salty seaweed, hessian, chargrilled citrus, kippers, beach bonfires and wet sand.
