A 25 year old Islay single malt from Laphroaig, distilled in 1998 and bottled by the distillery in 2023. It matured in an ex-bourbon cask and is part of the Cask Strength Edition, at 47.3% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The nose has a strong vanilla note breaking through the usual Laphroaig charcoal, with a touch of the coast, honey sweetness, apricot, fresh cloves, heather, grapes and tobacco. The palate is lightly peaty, with vanilla, blackcurrant, aniseed and apple, and a full, oily, velvety texture. The finish is long, a little spicy, and dusty and smoky to the end.
