This is a 35 year old Laphroaig, the second release in the distillery's Strong Characters series. Chapter 2 celebrates Dugald Johnston, who took charge of Laphroaig at a very young age after his father Donald died in 1847. It was matured in American oak casks, barrels and hogsheads and is bottled at 43.8% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The outturn is 5,500 bottles, with a black-and-white illustration by Bill Bragg. The nose is sweet, with freshly baked pastry and scents of apple and cherry. Smokiness and spice open the palate, followed by a creamy mouthfeel and light raisin. The finish carries aniseed and a light peppery tingle, fading back to peat smoke.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
