Laphroaig Cairdeas 2025 Lore Cask Strength is a single malt from Islay, released for the Friends of Laphroaig. Cairdeas is Gaelic for friendship, and this edition takes the Lore expression to cask strength, 59.6% ABV (119.2 proof). It is non-chill filtered.
It is a marriage of five casks, including ex-bourbon, European oak, Oloroso sherry butts and quarter casks.
The nose opens with peat smoke and sea salt, then lemon and lime against caramel. The palate brings citrus zest, salted lime, peat and sherry-derived fruit such as apricot and peaches in syrup, with herbal hints, cumin, clove and ginger. The finish is antiseptic, with lingering sweet citrus and spice.
