Ledaig Castaway is a peated single malt from Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull, released in an edition of 6,428 bottles. It was matured in a pairing of Caribbean rum casks and Mexican tequila casks, a first for the brand, and bottled at cask strength, non-chill filtered and at natural colour. A portion of the proceeds supports the Mull and Iona Community Trust.
The nose is coastal peat smoke with caramelised banana, lime zest and vanilla. On the palate, smoky spice meets grilled pineapple, brine and herbal agave, and the finish is long and warming, with peat embers, demerara sweetness and chilli heat.
