Lennox Peat 2011/2024 13 Year Old Koval Bourbon Cask Murray McDavid (70cl, 52.6%)

Lennox Peat is a heavily peated 13-year-old Highland single malt from Murray McDavid's Mystery Malt range. It was distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2024 at 52.6%. It matured first in bourbon hogsheads, then spent five years in small first-fill bourbon casks from the Koval distillery in Chicago, chosen to balance the strength of the peat. Whisky from four casks was married to make 516 bottles, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The character is smoky, fruity and sweet, with creamy and pastry notes. The nose brings sweet, smoky banana with creamy vanilla. On the palate, tropical fruit meets lively peat and apple pastry. The finish is mild, with sweet embers and creamy malt.
