Lindores 1494 is a Lowland single malt from Lindores Abbey Distillery, made from malted barley and bottled at 46% ABV. It is matured in a mix of bourbon, sherry and wine casks.
The bourbon casks bring vanilla and caramel, while the sherry casks add darker fruit, spice and stronger oak. The gold colour comes from the casks alone, as no colouring is added.
The nose is creamy and sweet, with caramel, condensed milk, hazelnut and cinnamon alongside apple, pear and blackberry. On the palate, nutmeg and clove lead into caramel, vanilla and baked apple. The finish is medium in length, with spiced oak, fruit and a light touch of mint.
