Lindores Abbey – Casks of Lindores Bourbon Cask (49.4%)

This is the first release in the Casks of Lindores series, a single malt from Lindores Abbey in Fife. It was matured only in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 49.4%, a figure taken from 1494, the year of the first written record of distillation at the abbey. Distilling returned to the abbey grounds in 2017, in copper stills, after more than 500 years. The nose is fruity, with citrus, sweet vanilla and a touch of butterscotch. On the palate vanilla mingles with orchard fruit, a hint of citrus and fine, peppery wood. The finish is long, as the vanilla and the bourbon cask wood slowly fade.
