Lindores Abbey MCDXCIV is a Lowland single malt Scotch whisky, the first single malt released by Lindores Abbey Distillery. Lindores is the officially recognised site of the first recorded distillation of Scotch whisky, in 1494, an entry found in the Exchequer Roll. There, the monk Brother John Cor was commissioned by King James IV to turn eight bolls of malt into aqua vitae.
The colour is golden. The nose is soft and mellow, with vanilla, caramel, orchard fruits and sweet pear drops. The palate is smooth and creamy, with vanilla, dried fruits, citrus and a hint of spice. The finish is medium in length, delicate but lingering.
