Thiron 2024 is a limited edition Lowland single malt from Lindores Abbey, bottled at 49.4% ABV without chill-filtration. It is made only from barley grown in Fife.
The whisky matured in three kinds of cask: French virgin oak, bourbon barrels and wine barriques. The French oak adds spice and structure, while the bourbon and wine casks bring sweeter, fruitier notes. A restrained touch of peat smoke sits in the background.
The nose offers vanilla, toffee, peach, cherry and dried apricot. On the palate come juicy pear and raisins with spicy French oak and a light smoky accent. The long finish keeps oak and a trace of smoke, with toffee and nutty, slightly salty notes.
