Linkwood – 12 Year Old Wilson & Morgan (58%)

This is a 12 year old Speyside single malt from Linkwood, bottled by Wilson & Morgan at a cask strength of 58%. It was distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2020, with an outturn of 548 bottles. The whisky spent its final year in a Pedro Ximenez sherry cask, which adds the character of Spanish dessert wine. The nose is fruity, with candied oranges and apricots, a touch of dried dates and figs and a light winey note. The texture is buttery and creamy, with toasted cereals, beeswax and a pastry-like sweetness. It turns spicy and lively at the end, and a little water brings out blood oranges and a drier edge.
