This is a 56-year-old Linkwood from Speyside, distilled in 1966 and bottled in 2022 by Gordon & MacPhail at 54.1% ABV. It matured for its whole life in a single first fill sherry hogshead, number 789, and comes in a 70cl bottle.
It is part of the Dram Takers Collection, which pairs very old single casks with a presentation inspired by the Book of Kells.
The nose offers dark dried fruit, black cherries and raisins with chocolate, leather and fine spice. The palate is dense and full, with plums, dates, cocoa, nuts and spicy oak. The finish is very long and dry, with dark fruit, chocolate and sherry spice.
