This is a 40 year old Speyside single malt from Linkwood, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in its Private Collection. It was distilled in 1982 and bottled in 2023 at 57.8% ABV, in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky matured in a first fill sherry butt, cask 91018811, which brings sherry-cask depth to the floral, fruity character of Linkwood.
Tasting notes mention dark cherries, raisins and ripe orange on the nose, with chocolate, cinnamon and oak spice. The palate is full, with dried fruit, toffee, cocoa, nuts and spiced sherry wood. The finish is very long and warm, with dark fruit, chocolate and dry oak.
