The ninth Longrow Red release, a heavily peated Campbeltown single malt from the Springbank distillery. It spent seven years in bourbon barrels, then three years in refill Malbec barriques from De Toren Private Cellar in Stellenbosch, South Africa. The edition numbers 10,000 bottles worldwide.
The nose offers vanilla fudge and butterscotch with stewed rhubarb. On the palate, delicate peat smoke sits with red apples and black cherries, then pretzels, almonds and a touch of tobacco. The finish is ashy and buttery, with burnt embers and warm buttered toast.
