Luxardo Sangue Morlacco Cherry Liqueur (70cl, 30%)

Sangue Morlacco is a cherry liqueur from Luxardo of Italy, made from the family's own marasca cherries. The cherries are infused in neutral spirit, then aged and sweetened to a deep ruby colour. The name means 'Blood of the Morlachs' and was coined by the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio in 1919. The nose is dark cherry, bitter almond and a little vanilla. The palate is full and velvety, with black cherry, cocoa and gentle spice, and enough tartness to balance the sweetness. The finish is long, with dark chocolate and spice.
