Mac-Talla Virgin Oak Limited Edition Cask Strength (70cl, 53.8%)

Mac-Talla Virgin Oak is a limited, cask strength Islay single malt bottled at 53.8% in a 70cl bottle. Mac-Talla is Gaelic for 'echo' and the brand belongs to the Morrison family, who have been on Islay for five generations. The whisky is a batch of 27 American standard casks, fully matured in a selection of bourbon casks and deeply charred '#4 Char' virgin oak casks from Kelvin Cooperage in Kentucky. It then spent three months marrying in virgin oak. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. The nose has deep oak spice, gentle peat smoke, caramel apples and muscovado sugar. On the palate come rich smoked oak, warm baking spices, sticky toffee pudding and creamy butter toffee.
