Macallan – 110 Proof Sherry Oak 12 Years (70cl, 55%)

Macallan 110 Proof is a 12 year old Speyside single malt, bottled at 55% in a 70cl bottle. It is a stronger take on the Sherry Oak style, matured mainly in European oak casks that previously held sherry. The higher strength adds depth and structure to the rich, fruity character of the whisky, which is described as fruity, sherry-led and powerful. The nose offers sticky dates, cherry compote, cinnamon, cocoa nibs and dried orange slices. On the palate come strong oak, sultanas, ginger, star anise and mandarin, alongside dark chocolate and chocolate-covered espresso beans. The finish is layered, with molasses toffee, mocha and sweet cinnamon.
