Macallan 18 Year Old Double Cask - 2023 Release (70cl, 43%)

This is the 2023 release of Macallan 18 Year Old Double Cask, a Speyside single malt bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The colour develops naturally during maturation, and the whisky is chill-filtered. It matured for 18 years in sherry-seasoned casks of American and European oak, which give it a sweeter, warmer character. Vanilla, spice, toffee, sultanas and sweet ginger are among its impressions. The nose combines dried fruit and toffee with candied citrus peel, ginger and nutmeg. On the palate raisins, sultanas and dried apricots meet toffee with dark sugar syrup, vanilla and ginger, with toasted woody spice and baked apple. The finish is long and warm, with oak and citrus.
