This Macallan was distilled in 1939 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail as a Pure Highland Malt, in a 75cl bottle. Its strength is given as 70 proof. It is thought to have been bottled in the mid to late 1970s, and its age is thought to be between 32 and 38 years. Macallan licensed its bottling to Campbell, Hope & King and to Gordon & MacPhail in the 1960s and 1970s. Gordon & MacPhail regularly bought stock from the distillery during the 1930s and 1940s, and released several of these bottlings mainly for the Italian market.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
