Macallan – 31 Year Old Director's Special (70cl, 41.2%)

This is a 31 year old Macallan from Speyside, selected by Elixir Distillers for the Director's Special series under The Single Malts of Scotland name. It is bottled at 41.2% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtering or added colouring. The Macallan Distillery stands on the Easter Elchies estate by the River Spey. The nose brings wild strawberries, baked vanilla and honeycomb, with a touch of lemon and Linzer torte with red berry jam. The palate is rich and malty, with wild strawberries, mint, eucalyptus and green peppercorn, plus apple pie and rye bread. The finish is long and silky, with tobacco and oak.
