The 2024 release of Classic Cut, a Speyside single malt from Macallan, bottled at 52.4% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is a limited edition.
The nose opens with dark honey and beeswax, then candied citrus and dried fruit, with creamy vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, ginger and toasted oak. Dried flowers and tobacco sit in the background.
The palate is full-bodied, with baked apple and pear and a sweetness that holds the strength in check. Black pepper, nutmeg, dark chocolate, liquorice and roasted nuts follow. The finish is long, with toasted oak, dried fruit, a lingering gentle spice and a hint of roasted coffee.
