Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old 2022 Release (70cl, 43%)

Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old 2022 Release is a Speyside single malt from the Macallan estate near Craigellachie, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is chill-filtered and has a natural amber-honey colour. The whisky spent 18 years in American and European oak casks seasoned with sherry in Jerez. American oak adds vanilla and sweetness, European oak adds spicy depth, and a larger share of American oak gives a sweeter, warmer character. The nose brings dried fruit and toffee with ginger, candied citrus peel, orange, clove and nutmeg. Raisins and sultanas open the palate, then dried apricot, dark toffee, vanilla and ginger. The finish is long, with warm oak spice turning to sweet orange.
