Macallan – Harmony Collection Vibrant Oak (70cl, 44.2%)

Vibrant Oak is the fourth Harmony Collection release from Macallan, made with Cirque du Soleil to mark the distillery's 200th anniversary. It is a Speyside single malt bottled at 44.2% in a 70cl bottle, with no added colour. The whisky matured in a combination of first fill American oak casks previously seasoned with sherry and used sherry casks, with the focus on American oak. The casks bring out vanilla, citrus and sweet oak. The nose has vanilla pod, fizzy sweets and lime zest, then fragrant pear and vanilla cake. The palate is creamy, with buttery shortbread, lightly toasted coconut, almond brittle and apple alongside sweet oak. The finish is medium in length and sweet, with vanilla lingering.
