Macallan – Rare Cask Release 2023 (70cl, 43%)

Macallan Rare Cask Release 2023 is a Speyside single malt put together by the Macallan team from a small number of ex-sherry oak casks, both American and European. They were chosen from among the least common casks in the warehouse. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle, with no added colour. Its mahogany shade comes from the wood alone. The nose shows raisins, dates, plum, tobacco, orange and dark chocolate over vanilla. The palate is round and syrupy, with leather, prune, cherry, ginger and fruit cake. The finish is long and warming, with black cherry, dark chocolate and coffee.
