Macduff – 1997 23 Year Old The Single Cask

This is a 23 year old single malt from Macduff, distilled on 9 September 1997 and bottled on 16 October 2020 for The Single Cask series. Only 155 bottles were filled. The whisky was finished in a first fill Oloroso hogshead, which is the cask behind its sherried character. On the nose it shows dulce de leche, toffee and peach liqueur, with a touch of coffee beans and sultanas. The palate is rich and full of flavour, with dried fruit, raisins and plums in the manner of an old-style sherry-finished malt, alongside honey, white pepper, nutmeg, cloves and fragrant mandarin peel.
