This is a 14 year old Macduff, distilled in 2009 and bottled by the Dràm Mòr Group. It matured in a bourbon cask and was then finished in a first-fill Pineau des Charentes hogshead. Only 290 bottles were filled.
The nose opens with very sweet grape, then old wood, cereals and a touch of bitter digestif, along with sweet fruit syrup, beeswax, green tobacco and warm cinnamon buns. The palate is soft, rich and oily, much like a sweet dessert whisky, with gently bitter herbs, sweet fruit, delicate spices and old polished oak. The finish is tingling, with fruit and oily spices.
